ZANSHIN: Martial Arts (PreSkill ages 3-8)

Zanshin is a Japanese martial arts concept. Translation literally it mean "remaining spirit" or "follow through" It is the mindset of making sure when you set yourself to a task it is done to the best of your ability. Head instructor, Daniel McCarthy has over 25 years of martial arts experience, and a black belt degree in multiple disciplines. PreSkill A program for very young children. This class specializes in teaching proper behavior, learning skills, and general coordination mixed with basic martial arts skills. Class lessons rotate between martial arts skills, life skills, and general physical skills that all children need. *There is a one time enrollment/ uniform fee of $50 *Cost: $120 per 8 week session. (guests to the club must pay daily usage fee)

Fundamental skills are taught in a manner that is both progressive and fun. This class will prepare students for serious martial arts training as well as other competitive activities physically, mentally and spiritually. *There is a one time enrollment/ uniform fee of $100 *Cost: $120 per 8 week session (guests to the club must pay daily usage fee)

We offer a traditional martial arts class as well as classes specific to self-defense. There is a one time enrollment/ uniform fee of $100 *Cost: $120 per 8 week session (guests to the club must pay daily usage fee)

Swim Lessons and Swim Team

PLF is an authorized provider for American Red Cross Swim Lessons. All Lead Instructors are WSI certified with the American Red Cross. Levels 1 - 5 classes are available along with Parent and Child classes, and Swim Team. Parents are asked to remain outside of pool area during lessons. Registration for the FALL Learn to Swim session OPENS ONLINE AUGUST 23, AND WILL REMAIN OPEN UNTIL THE CLASS FILLS OR UNTIL SEPTEMBER 6TH. There is a minimum of 3 children registered per class in order to have the class. Should a child miss two consecutive lessons, their registration will be dropped to make room for a child on Stand-by. We are offering one 8-week session that will meet ONCE A WEEK FOR 8 WEEKS. Lessons will begin the week of September 11, and finish the week of Oct 30th. Regular fees for these classes are: Members not under current 24 month contract the fee is $80.00, and Swim team fee is $98.00. Those under current 24 month contract, the lessons are free, and Swim team is $48.00 for the 8-week session. If you are unable to register on-line at home please see membership to use their computer to register. Everyone must be registered on-line so we have your email and phone number for emergencies or changes in schedules.

Lifeguard Certification

DECEMBER 26, 27, AND 28. 8AM - 6PM EACH DAY Register NOW before the panic sets in and everyone is scrambling for a course for their summer job!This is the American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification course. Offered to anyone 15 years and older. Registration is online and is open. Cost is $200.00 for Members and Non-Members. This will cover all the materials you will need for the course. You must pay by phone or at the front desk within 24 hours of registering. Wear a suit and bring goggles. You will need to meet the requirements the first day of class which are: 300 yard swim non-stop no time limit, goggles are allowed. Tread Water for 2 minutes, and a Timed Event of 1 min. and 40 sec. swim 20 yards, surface dive to retrieve a 10 lb. object come to surface and return to starting point and exit water, no goggles allowed. You must pass the pre-test to continue with the course. Be sure before you register you can attend all 4 Days of the course, and that you can pass the pre-test. There is no refund. Lifeguard training season has ALREADY begun, spots will fill quickly throughout the metro-area and it will be difficult to find a class with openings. Get started now!

Winter-Break CAMP: Junior Chefs- December 28

Sugar, flour, and butter… oh my!!! This week will be filled with making delicious foods and treats! This is a fun camp for girls AND boys. We will learn about ingredients and how to make fun recipes! This camp is $25 for the first child (or $60 for all 3 days), and $15 for each additional child in family. $30 per day for non-members ($75 for all 3 days). It will run 9:00am-1:00pm, which will include snacks throughout the day and the supplies for the day-camp. Extended care is available for an additional $5 per early drop off and late pick up. Cancellation without notice will result in forfeiting full camp fees.

Dance Class

Dance Clinic

Our Dance Instructor, Abigail Todd, will provide a structured method of learning various types of dance such as jazz and hip-hop. Her class will be a fun-filled and vibrant environment for kids, and offers a new set of original combinations and routines every time. The last class of each session parents will be invited to come and see what the children have been learning. The 8-week session will be held Wednesday's 4:00-4:45pm for ages 4-7, and 5:00-5:45 for ages 8-12, and starting November 1st at our 84th & Q location.
