Luke Shepherd

Luke started with PLF in 2002 in Omaha at our 132nd location. He spent 11 years there as a Personal Trainer, Fitness Director and Assistant Club Manager. Luke spent 1 year as the General Manager at our 84th street location in Ralston and has since moved to our 70th and A location at the end of 2014. Luke studied Exercise Science at UNO, and has trained and coached basketball, track, golf and volleyball athletes. He is active raising his two daughters, but still loves to find time to play golf with his wife. Next time you're in the club please be sure to stop and say hello.

Amy Munro-Fitness Director, Master Trainer

ACSM Certified Personal Trainer I grew up in Wilber, NE where I learned and enjoyed to be active at a very young age. I went to college at Northwest Missouri State University; I double majored in Corporate Recreation & Wellness and Therapeutic Recreation, and also received a minor in coaching. I have been a part of the Prairie Life Fitness team since the summer of 2007 and became an ACSM certified personal trainer in 2008. In my free time, I really enjoy playing volleyball, going to the movies and spending time with my family & friends. Mark and I love to take our two dogs, Andre & Marley, walking & rollerblading! I've worked with people of many different ages and fitness levels, ranging from high school athletes to individuals with shoulder surgeries and knee replacements — I welcome any challenge! Eric Vacek-Personal Trainer

ACSM Certified Eric has 16 years training experience between Prairie Life Fitness and his time as a Master Fitness Trainer in the U.S. Army. He is a graduate of th University of Nebraska-Lincoln and is certified through the American College of Sports Medicine. In addition to personal training, Eric is also a Physical Education Teacher in the Lincoln Public Schools. In his spare time, Eric enjoys racing mountain bikes, competing in triathlons, weight-training and and spending time with his wife and Kids.

Teri Boies - Master Personal Trainer/Sports Dir.

Certifications: American College of Sports Medicine: Health Fitness Specialist National Strength & Conditioning Association: Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist USA Weightlifting Federation: Olympic Weightlifting Club Coach Kettlebell Concepts: Level 1 Instructor Teri has over 16 years of experience as a personal trainer at Prairie Life and has also been the Sports Director for 13 years. She has experience training individuals from ages 11-94 for many different types of goals, whether it is weight loss or gain, toning up, injury prevention, sports enhancement, or overall health improvement. She graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and a minor in Psychology in 1999, while at Wesleyan Teri competed on the women’s golf and volleyball teams. Teri completed her internship at Goodyear Fitness Center. She was a high school volleyball coach for 11 years and also has coached middle school track for four years. In her free time Teri enjoys spending time with her husband and daughters and participating in volleyball, basketball, softball, racquetball, weight training, golf or just about any sport. Richard Schwartz - Master Personal Trainer

NSCA Certified, Kettlebell Concepts Level 1 Instructor, and a TRX Trainer Richard graduated from Concordia University in Seward with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science and Sport Management and a minor in Health Promotion. Richard is a certified personal trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), a Kettlebell Concepts Level 1 Instructor, and a TRX Trainer. While at Concordia, Richard competed in four years of intercollegiate basketball and soccer. He completed his exercise science internship at Cherry Creek Athletic Club in Denver, Colorado where he served as fitness floor manager in addition to working in the personal training, athletic, and marketing departments. Richard's individualized workouts will allow you to accomplish your goals and attain quicker results. In his free time Richard enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, hiking, running, skiing, golfing and playing almost any type of sport.

Ben Welch - Master Personal Trainer

ACSM Certified Ben is an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer from Lincoln. He is a graduate of Buena Vista University with a degree in Exercise Science with a minor in coaching. Ben played 4 years of varsity soccer while at BVU and is now coaching at Waverly High School. He is enthusiastic about the game as it has been a part of his life for 18 years. Chelsea Ortlieb - Master Personal Trainer

Certifications: ACSM: Health Fitness Specialist, CrossFit Level 1 Trainer, KettleBell Concepts Level 1 Trainer, TRX Trainer, Zumba Instructor: Levels 1, 2, and Toning Chelsea graduated from Ball State University (BSU) in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science. While at BSU, Chelsea completed her Exercise Science internship at Hilton Head Health, a fitness/weight-loss camp located on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina. During her internship, the facility was experiencing filming for the first season of a new weight loss show on A&E titled Heavy. She appeared on 3 of the 6 episodes recording participants’ weight losses. In the summer of 2011, she became a certified health fitness specialist through the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM: HFS). Chelsea has been professionally involved in the fitness industry since January 2010. Her two fitness passions are Zumba and CrossFit—she utilizes these two forms of training and their methodology for her own personal workouts, as well as the building blocks for her career as a personal trainer. Chelsea will carry out her mission to be a catalyst for positive lifestyle changes in the lives of others. April Rasmussen - Personal Trainer

ACSM Certified I am from Arlington, TX. I grew up running and swimming and ended up running for a bit at UNL. I majored in Nutrition, Exercise, and Health science with a minor in Coaching. I am currently certified as a Health Fitness Specialist through ACSM. I have been a trainer for 2 ½ years and I have worked with all types of fitness and health levels and all age ranges. I am great with swimmers and runners at any level in their training. I enjoy doing half marathons and weight lifting. When I’m not working out I enjoy spending time with my baby girl and my husband.

Vanessa Delany - Personal Trainer

Vanessa is a NETA Certified Personal Trainer and Group Fitness Instructor with over 20 years experience in the fitness industry. She teaches water aerobics, Mat Pilates, interval training, and strength classes. She believes variety is the spice of life! Vanessa thinks varying one's workouts (cross training) can be beneficial. By using different muscle groups one can reach a higher level of fitness as well as ward off boredom with "the same old same old" routine, increasing a person's odds of maintaining life long fitness. Justin Wittler - Master Personal Trainer

ISSA Certified Personal Trainer I graduated from the University of Nebraska-Omaha with a degree in Physical Education – Health and Exercise Science. As a native of Beatrice, NE, I grew up with a passion for playing sports and staying active. I participated in football, basketball, and baseball in high school, and continued playing baseball in college. While maintaining a healthy lifestyle in college and staying active, I decided I really wanted to help other people reach their own fitness goals! Alex Price - Personal Trainer

Alex Price Alex is an ACSM Certified Health Fitness Specialist. She is originally from Hastings, NE. Alex attended Northwestern College in Orange City, IA where she received her BA degree in Exercise Science with a Career Concentration in Strength and Conditioning. She has over two years of experience working at a fitness center in Sheldon, IA personal training and teaching fitness classes ranging from Cycling and Water Aerobics to Barre and Senior Fitness. Moving to Lincoln in August, Alex currently also works full time at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in the Aquatic Therapy Department. Olivia Borer - Personal Trainer

I grew up on a farm near Elgin before moving to Lincoln for college at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. I graduated in December 2015 with my bachelor's degree in Fashion Design and Business, however it wasn't fulfilling my newfound love and passion for fitness and nutrition. So, I decided to make a change for myself and became a group fitness instructor, personal trainer, and started a health coaching program through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. Now, I'm making my dream a reality by helping others achieve their health goals. When it coms to fitness, my true passions include strength training, high-intensity interval training (HITT), TRX, and kettlebell work. I love empowering my clients to have fun with fitness, gain confidence through strength training, and become the best versions of themselves. Matthew Spartz - Personal Trainer

I am an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist from Hastings, NE. I graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science with plans to pursue my Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology and Nutrition from UNL while also working with their Strength Department. I have experience training high school and collegiate level athletes of all sports, as well as children and the elderly. Brandy (BJ) Withrow - Personal Trainer

I grew up in Ashland, NE where I played all sports as a kid through high school, and have always enjoyed an active lifestyle. After having three children, losing control of my health and gaining a considerable amount of weight, I myself, needed a transformation. I focused on my nutrition, started going to the gym and fell in love with the process of change. I've lost 65 pounds so far and on my journey I discovered helping others is my passion. I went from a mom who couldn't play with her kids to a mom who out-plays her kids! I started running 5K's, which led to my current obsession of Obstacle Course Racing. I've competed Elite Division and have top finishing places in my age division and over-all. I've raced Tough Mudder, Spartan, Conquer The Guantlet, Rugged Maniac, Battle Frog, Mud Factor, Warrior Dash, Big Red Challenge and MudZilla. Leading by example for my family and community is very important to me. A healthy lifestyle should be something we teach our children. Dusty Hatt - Personal Trainer

I have been with Prairie Life Fitness since 2006. I am also the Director of Indoor Cycling here at PLF. I am an ACE Certified Personal Trainer, Stages Indoor Cycling Certified, Balanced Body Pilates Reformer 1 Certified and ACE Group Fitness Certified. I have always loved exercise in any form and have been involved in fitness and sports my whole life. I received a scholarship for springboard diving from the University of Nebraska Kearney and am an All-American, nationally ranked diver. Marc Tangeman - Personal Trainer

Marc Tangeman, NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist I am originally from Papillion, NE and a recent graduate of the University of Nebraska Lincoln where I majored in Nutrition Exercise and Health Science. I became interested in fitness and nutrition after years of playing sports as a kid and young adult. As a student at UNL I was fortunate enough to be able to work in both the Sports Nutrition and Strength and Conditioning departments for a couple years giving me a good insight on the holistic approach of health and wellness. During this time I was also personal training clients helping with anything from weight loss to muscle and strength gains and everything in between. In my down time I enjoy fishing, biking, playing sports, reading and of course weightlifting. I have been an avid fitness and health enthusiast for a few years now and there's not one part of it that I don't love. My favorite areas include TRX, interval training, and general weightlifting. Membership Services I was raised in a small town in Northeast Nebraska and spent most of my time playing sports. I went to Wayne State College to pursue my degree in Sports Management with a minor in Exercise Science. After graduating college I moved to Lincoln, Nebraska to complete my internship at the University of Nebraska in the athletic department. Following my internship I started as a Membership Sales Representative at Prairie Life Fitness. I love being able to talk to members and guests and helping them get their healthy lifestyle started. In my free time I love to spend time with my fiancé and two beautiful daughters, working out, water/snow skiing, and shopping. Jeff Haase - Membership Services

Membership Services Jeff was born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska. He has lived here all of his life except for one year spent backpacking overseas. He began jogging at age 16 and fell in love with it. He has been a faithful exerciser for the past 45 years. He fell in love with his wife, Beth, at age 19 and they have been happily married for 38 years. Together they raised one daughter, Kelsey. Jeff started at Prairie Life as a member in 1990 and used it so often, he decided to work here beginning in 2002. Jeff had a major stroke in 2012 and with the love and support of his faith and family, he has made a remarkable recovery. Brandy Pappas - Membership Services

I was born and raised here in Lincoln, Nebraska. I started competitive swimming at the age of 5 with some exciting competitions along the way both in Nebraska and other states. I then followed my passion to Springfield, Missouri where I swam on scholarship for Missouri State University. After my father was diagnosed with cancer I moved back home to be with my family, however I continued my passion by competing for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's rec swim team. I started at Prairie Life Fitness in April of 2011 as a Courtesy Services worker, Lifeguard and Swim Instructor working wherever they needed me. The summer of 2011 I also was one of the swim coaches for the PLF Penguins! In July of 2014 I was then promoted to Aquatics Director at PLF along with teaching Aqua Boot Camp (a more strength and high intensity based Water Aerobics Class)! In September of 2015 I switched gears again and started working full time as a membership services representative. Working in membership is extremely rewarding because I have the opportunity to help members start or continue on a healthy lifestyle as they invest in themselves. In my free time I love working out, spending time with my friends and family and spending time at the lake (weather permitting)! Emily Kaempfe - Membership Services

I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. After high school I went to college at Kansas State University and got a degree in broadcast journalism and a minor in anthropology upon graduation in May of 2015. I moved to Lincoln shortly after for a job in the news industry but I decided I was ready for new opportunities and started here at Prairie Life in October. I am a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and baseball in general. In my free time I stay active working out, playing with my dog, going to church and spending time with family and friends. Miranda Gunnerson

I was raised here in Lincoln Nebraska and graduated from Lincoln High in 2013. After high school I decided to stay in Lincoln to further my education, and graduated May 2017 with my BFA in Theatre Studies. I was fortunate enough to have found Prairie Life Fitness right before graduation, and started only a few short days after. I'm a huge fan of comic books and Star Wars, and eventually plan to move to LA to pursue my dreams of being in a Marvel superhero movie. Anne Lenz - RN, Associate Club Manager

RN, Associate Club Manager, Water and Pilates Director Anne is a Registered Nurse and the Associate Club Manager of PLF, wife and mother of four. She has been with PLF since October, 1996. She is a certified Mat and Reformer Pilates Instructor and has held an AFAP Personal Training Certification. She has taught Group Fitness classes since 1984 beginning with Dance Aerobics and moving to Water Aerobics in 1985 for which she is the Director here at PLF. She has also been a Trainer for the State of Nebraska with the Arthritis Foundation Aquatic Program and certified Leader for AFAP. When the Arthritis Foundation dropped the AFAP program, Anne developed BEST, Balance, Exercise, Stretch and Toning, using the original AFAP program as her basis. She has coached swimming at the youth and Masters level since 1980. The more Anne learns about Pilates, Mat, Chair, and Reformer, and there is always more to learn, the more she sees how it relates to day-day activities. In nursing, Anne was the Assistant Head Nurse of a neurological-surgical unit dealing with many patients who had back issues. She is able to bring that experience to her Pilates classes. Many times she has thought how there would be fewer people with back issues if they could learn to strengthen their core! Jessica Crawford - Cafe Director

Jessica Crawford - Café Director I was born in California but I grew up in the battle born state of Nevada. Being an athlete from a young age I played basketball and ran track, but was offered a college scholarship for my years in softball. I have been playing ever since and try to coach my two son’s teams as well. I am married to an active duty Air Force Officer, who I met in my hometown. My college degree was finished out during our tour in California from the University of LaVerne in Organizational Management but I also hold certifications for fitness instructing with Athletics and Fitness Association of America.

Shannon Josoff - Facility Manager

Facility Manager I have worked in the fitness industry for almost 20 years. At 18 I got my first accredited personal training certification through ACE and my first “real job” out of high school was a membership rep and personal trainer for New Lady Fitness. When New Lady Fitness closed I went to work for 24 Hour Fitness in Omaha for 6 years before opening my own private personal training studio. August of 2002 I married my high school sweetheart Brad Josoff. We have 3 beautiful daughters Haylee 11 years old, Hanna 9, and Hayzel 4. We live in Manley Ne. In 2010 we purchased the skating rink in Elmwood, Ne and opened Josoff’s Social Hall and Fitness Center. We hosted social events, skate days and had the fitness center. The summer of 2011 we opened Red Cedar Lounge. As the owner and operator of the facility I held many roles. I was a personal trainer, boot camp instructor, party hostess, skating attendant, accountant, DJ, bartender, cook, waitress, maintenance man and cleaning lady, all in one. (This is where I learned how to do a majority of the maintenance type jobs I do for Prairie Life). In Oct. 2014 it was time for a change and we sold the business. I was a stay at home mom for four months before I started working for Prairie Life as the Facility Manager in January of 2015. I have a passion for helping people. Vanessa Delany - Group Fitness Director

Group Fitness Director I am a forever fitness enthusiast. I began teaching gymnastics, swimming, and baton in my hometown of Emerson, NE. That passion for movement and an active lifestyle motivated me to become a group fitness instructor during the Jane Fonda era. I started teaching group fitness classes at PLF in 1997. The expression "time flies when you are having fun" is certainly true. I am grateful to have been asked to practice yoga with the Husker volleyball teams for the past 9 years through UNL Campus Rec .I love walking, music, reading, gardening, good food, taking yoga classes in different cities, beaches, HGTV, shoes, and great conversations. What I love most about the fitness industry is that I have the opportunity to meet so many interesting and diverse people-all with a zest for life and the common goal of lifetime fitness. Leyna Saville - Youth Activities Director

Leyna Saville is an Air Force wife, and mommy to three beautiful kids. She is a 2000 graduate of Lincoln Southeast High School(Go Knights!), and earned a Bachelors of Journalism and Mass Communications from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in December of 2004. In the winter of 2009, Uncle Sam moved her family to Dayton, Ohio where they lived for five years before moving back to Nebraska. Leyna has been with Prairie Life Fitness since May of 2014, and it's been such an amazing experience getting to know all the kids and their sweet families. In her spare time, she enjoys chasing her kiddos around outside, running, hiking, photography, horseback riding, scrapbooking, and singing. Leyna has always had a passion for helping kids to have fun while being active and creative. It's such a privilege being able to experience watching a child grow in confidence, physical ability, and creativity. She is continuing along with her passion by implementing Physical Literacy into our Youth Activity Center. Dusty Hatt - Cycling Director

Cycling Director Dusty Hatt loves all aspects of fitness. She has worked at Prairie Life Fitness since 2006. She is ACE Certified, Balanced Body Certified, and Stages Indoor Cycling Certified. Her current position at Prairie Life Fitness is Director of Indoor Cycling, she also teaches Pilates Reformer, strength training, HIIT, Boot camp, and kids gymnastics. Dusty is originally from Haysville, KS and attended college at the University of Nebraska at Kearney on diving and academic scholarships, where she received 2 degrees, a B.S. in Political Science and a B.S. in Mass Communications. She still enjoys being involved in diving as the coach at Lincoln Southeast High School. She has been married to Ryan for 11 years and has 2 children, David and Devri.

Parker Temple - Aquatic Director

I was born in Las Cruces, New Mexico. I moved to Lincoln at first for work, but now I will be going back to school attending UNL. I have been competitively swimming for about ten years. Most recently I competed for William Jewell College; a DII school. I have worked every job that has to do with swimming during that time. I enjoy hiking, camping, and rock climbing on my time off. I am excited to be a part of the fantastic team here at Prairie Life Fitness.
